Dr. Folarin Kolawole, Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory

Dr. Folarin Kolawole is a structural geologist at Columbia’s Crustal-Deformation Group at Columbia and at the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory and an Assistant Professor at the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department. Dr. Kolawole has also been involved as a leader in the annual Death Valley trip sponsored by the DEES department for undergraduates. In his work as a structural geologist, Dr. Kolawole’s research involves the integration of field observation, divergent plate tectonics, natural intraplate and plate boundary earthquakes, and anthropogenically induced earthquakes. Recently, Dr. Kolawole published a paper pertaining to the geodynamics of continental rift initiation and evolution.
